Ian Alexander The powerful fulsome voice of Simone, together with the backing and the instrumentals are superb. They conjure up images of a past country lost in time and tell a haunting story of the need to reconnect with family. Ian

about

Sheba's haunting version of a traditional American folk song about a stranger in a foreign land looking forward to meeting their loved ones in the afterlife. Simone Keane on guitar and vocals, Gemma Kiiveri on piano and vocals and Ellie Honeybone on violin.

lyrics

I’m just a poor wayfaring stranger
Passing through this world below
There is no sickness, no toil or danger
In this bright land to which I go

I know dark clouds will gather round me
I know my way is dark and steep
But beauteous fields arise before me
With God’s redeemed that vigil’s keep

I’m going there to see my father
And all my loved ones who’ve gone on
I’m just going over Jordan
I’m just going over home

I’m going there to see my mother
She said she’d meet me when I come
So I’m just going over Jordan
I’m just going over home

I’m just going over Jordan
I’m just going over home

I’m just going over Jordan
I’m just going over home
